Rooted in Communities, Growing Bold Ideas for Change
In Her Hands, GRO’s flagship project, is a guaranteed income initiative focused on putting a solution to financial insecurity in the hands of women in Georgia. No strings attached.
Join us in celebrating the launch of In Her Hands, a groundbreaking guaranteed income initiative focused on Black women that will provide an average of $850 per month for 24 months to 650 women in three communities across Georgia.
The In Her Hands launch film commemorates this historic $13M guaranteed income project and highlights the legacy of Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood as a cornerstone in advocating for direct cash assistance to strengthen communities.
The film was made by Atlanta-based filmmaker, Logan Lynette Burroughs and features Atlanta native award-winning poet, Aurielle Marie.
The Old Fourth Ward is a neighborhood that holds the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement and is the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr. – an early advocate of guaranteed income. The neighborhood is where Dr. King and Coretta Scott King are memorialized, is a prominent site of Black entrepreneurship, and is the location of the historic Ebenezer Church.
In Her Hands is actively fundraising to support as many participants as possible across Georgia. Help us get across the finish line:
